Redshirt sophomore guard Christian Jones entered the transfer porter, League Ready reported Monday.
Jones took on a significant ball-handling role for the Revolutionaries this season, averaging 10 points per game and 3.1 assists per game. He now enters the transfer portal alongside junior guards Trey Autry and Bubu Benjamin, sophomore guard Ty Bevins and redshirt junior forward Garrett Johnson.
The Stratford, Connecticut native redshirted his first season at GW, but broke out in his 2024-2025 season with the A-10 naming him to their All-Rookie Team. He started in 21 of 34 games that year, averaging 8.7 points per game and a team-best 2.6 assists per game.
During his sophomore campaign, he took on additional ball-handling responsibilities, continuing his production from the season prior. He had 72 turnovers on the year, good for a 1.46 assist to turnover ratio.
Jones started every game of this season and saw his minutes steadily increase thoughout the year, averaging 26.4 minutes per game. Jones scored a career high 20 points in the first round of the Atlantic 10 tournament against Fordham to help the Revs advance to the second round.
During his initial recruitment in 2022, Jones was a three star-recruit and received offers from Siena, Texas A&M, Monmouth, Sam Houston State and Radford universities before committing to GW.
Jones’ announcement comes after junior guard Jean Aranguren’s agents told ESPN last week that the 6’3” Valencia, Venezuela native will return to the team next season. Aranguren will now step into a more prominent role going forward, given Jones and Autry plan to leave the team.
