Senior forward David Pellom underwent a second surgery on his left wrist today, and will be out an additional four to six weeks, an athletics communication spokesperson confirmed.
Pellom’s previous surgery was in July, and at the time, the forward was slated to return in four to five months. It was his second surgery of the offseason, after undergoing successful meniscus surgery on his left knee in March.
Last season, Pellom averaged a career-best 10.4 points on a GW single-season record in shooting, with a .685 field goal percentage on the season. He also paced the Colonials in rebounding, averaging 6.1 rebounds in 27 games played, and was a key aspect of supplementing GW’s energy on the court.
Head coach Mike Lonergan has previously spoken about the reinforcement Pellom would provide to GW’s frontcourt upon his return, and the forward’s further absence is a blow to a team that looks to structure itself around solid post play.
