Five people were shot with non-life-threatening injuries on the 1200 Block of Connecticut Avenue Friday night, police said.

Metropolitan Police Department Assistant Chief Ramey Kyle said officers apprehended a suspect and recovered a firearm after arriving on scene. He said there was a dispute that “spilled into the street.”

The 1200 Block of Connecticut Avenue includes popular bars among GW students, including Decades DC and The Mayflower DC. It’s unclear if any students were victims in the shooting.

MPD said in an 11:56 p.m. post on X that the scene was secure and that there was “no further threat to the community.”

Kyle added that Secret Service officers helped respond to the shooting.

Anyone with further information is encouraged to call MPD at 202-727-9099 or text 50411.
