GW men’s squash coach Wendy Lawrence will take over coaching duties for the women’s squash team next season, the University announced Wednesday. Lawrence, who will also stay on as coach of the men’s team, replaces former Colonials head coach Maura Myers.
In three years at the helm of the men’s team, Lawrence has helped the Colonials rise 11 spots in the national rankings. GW finished last season ranked 20th in the nation, the high-water mark for the eight-year-old program.
Lawrence will take the helm next season of a similarly successful women’s squad. Like their male counterparts, the women’s team also set a program-record when it climbed to 17th in the national rankings last season.
