Former GW star Pops Mensah-Bonsu sat courtside for the first half of the women’s basketball team’s game against St. Joseph’s tonight. In an interview with The Hatchet, Mensah-Bonsu said he has been cleared to play after having surgery on a partially torn labrum. He was talking with the Houston Rockets, but he said those discussions died out. Instead, he will try to make the NBA through the Developmental League, where former teammates Carl Elliott and Maureece Rice are playing.
When asked about the current itineration of the men’s basketball team, Mensah-Bonsu said it looked like the team lacked natural leaders, but he was hopeful for a turnaround.
