Some of you may have noticed that we devote whole pages to the men’s and women’s soccer team but relegate volleyball, water polo and cross country results to the “Varsity Roundup” section.

The reason for this is pretty simple: outside of basketball, there is simply not enough interest, time or money to cover teams when they play away games. Water polo and volleyball both have schedules filled with early tournaments outside the area, such as Richmond or Princeton. Polo plays some games in the Annapolis area and we debate going out to cover those games, but in the end decide it is too far. Fairfax, where the soccer teams each played tournaments recently, is much closer and worth traveling (especially when there are no home games!).

So, water polo and volleyball players, expect full articles and photos of your games in the coming issues. Thanks for being patient with us.
