Good evening from the Mullins Center in Amherst, Mass. UMass is billing this contest as a big game, which Hobbs doesn’t exactly believe. About 30 minutes before the game and the place is nearly empty. UMass presents something interesting for the Colonials. Rashaun Freeman, a 6-foot-9 forward, could give GW a tough time. He tipped one in at the buzzer two years ago to give GW a rare home loss. Last year he was quieted, getting just four points but this year there is no Pops Mensah-Bonsu or Mike Hall. How does he react? Probably with a huge game. It will be interesting to see how Dokun Akingbade and Regis Koundjia react to him. Akingbade and Koundjia are prone to silly fouls in the paint. To stop Freeman, the small GW team will have to do something inside.
Stay tuned.
