The GW men’s basketball team will get to model its new ranking for the first time tomorrow against Dayton at the Smith Center. The Flyers have always been a tough team for GW but they are having a down season. The Flyers are 11-12 overall and 3-6 in the Atlantic 10 but have won three of their last five contests.
Dayton’s leading scorer is Brian Roberts. He averages 16.9 points per game and is the only sophomore in the top 10 of scoring. He is capable of big games, with 10 games of 20 points or more. A piece the Dayton will be missing is Monty Scott, who is out with a stress fracture in his left foot.
GW head coach Karl Hobbs said after beating Richmond that Dayton is a team that they’ll have to try to slow down. They play a similar game to GW, which concerns Hobbs. The last top 10 team Dayton has played was then-No. 3 Saint Joseph’s on Feb. 11, 2003. Dayton lost 81-67.
