In front of a surprisingly full Smith Center, the GW men’s basketball team played the most complete half this season to lead Saint Joseph’s 38-23 at halftime. The No. 17/19 Colonials used a stifling trap and suffocating man to man defense en route to holding the Hawks to 23.1 percent shooting. The Colonials (11-1, 2-0 Atlantic 10) shot 58.3 percent from the floor.
Junior Danilo (J.R.) Pinnock leads all scorers with 12 points while senior Pops Mensah-Bonsu showed that he was back to the explosive play of his past with six points, four rebounds and a block. Junior Carl Elliott scored seven first half points.
The Hawks got six points from Dave Mallon.
