The first-place GW volleyball team crushed host Rhode Island in three games Friday night led by a 13-kill attack by senior Tracee Brown. GW pounded 52 kills in the match while committing just 18 errors. With the win the Colonials (18-4, 9-1) took over the lead in the Atlantic 10 standings by a half game over Temple (13-8, 9-2), who suffered its first two A-10 losses last weekend. This sets the stage for Tuesday’s showdown between the two teams in Philadelphia, where the Lady Owls have won the last five head-to-head meetings. Temple defeated GW at the Smith Center to begin the A-10 season in September.-Zach Leibowitz
