The Office of the Board of Trustees moved to 2001 Pennsylvania Ave. in November, a University spokesperson confirmed Wednesday.
The office’s relocation follows officials’ March announcement that GW would use 2001 Pennsylvania Ave. — a building the University acquired in October 2024 for $35 million as a “strategic investment” — for offices and “swing spaces.” University spokesperson Julia Garbitt said officials have not yet relocated additional GW programs to the space, and added that the Office of the Board of Trustees relocated in November after GW’s lease at 825 21st St., across from the University Student Center, expired.
“University leadership continues to evaluate possible uses for this property that would best meet the University’s needs, including reducing University expenditures on leasing office space,” Garbitt said in an email.
Associate Vice President for the Office of Real Estate Karen Zinn shared in March that officials planned to convert 2001 Pennsylvania Ave. into administrative spaces, but noted that the Planned Unit Development first needed modifications to allow office use on the first floor and add signage to the upper floor.
The Office of the Board of Trustees had been located at 825 21st St. since at least October 2015, according to web archives. Prior to that, the office worked out of Rice Hall at 2121 I St., the former administrative hub of GW before officials converted the area into retail and commercial space.
Vice President for Board Relations and Secretary of the University Jonathan Post, Assistant Vice President for Board Relations Delia Clayton, Associate Director for Board Operations Edward Howland and Executive Associate Rhonda Carter work for the office.
The Board of Trustees’ website still lists its location as 825 21st St. as of Wednesday, but University signage identifying the office is no longer on the building.
