Director of Campus Living Joe Paulick left the University in June to join Iowa State University’s campus life office, just seven months after he started at GW.
Paulick is no longer listed on the staff directory of the Campus Living & Residential Education team as of June 3, according to web archives. He had served as campus living director at the University since November, following former Director of Campus Living Dan Wright’s departure in June 2024 after more than a decade at GW.
The University did not return a request for comment. Paulick did not respond to a request for comment.
No replacement or interim director is listed on CLRE’s website.
As campus living director, Paulick oversaw all campus living staff and operations within the office, including housing programs and the residential student experience. His role began months after staff turnover at CLRE, where five central office staff members departed last summer.
During his seven-month stint at the University as campus living director, Paulick oversaw the University Honors Program’s upperclassmen housing move from Amsterdam Hall to District House for the 2025-26 academic year. He was also in the role when members of the Panhellenic Association petitioned the University in March to allow students with disability-related accommodations to live in Greek townhouses without placing hefty fines on chapters.
Paulick joined Iowa State University as the associate vice president for campus life on June 3, shortly after his departure from GW, per an Instagram post by Spelman Johnson, a search firm that identifies and recruits educational leaders. Spelman Johnson posted on February 26 they were seeking applications and nominations for the position at Iowa State University.
Paulick’s departure comes amid the University’s announcement last week that officials are suspending hiring until at least Oct. 1 as they cut administrative and academic budgets for fiscal year 2026 to address “unsettling” financial challenges.
The campus living director job opening has been active since June 2, and the listing’s qualifications include a bachelor’s degree with at least 10 years of relevant experience or a master’s degree or higher with at least eight years of relevant professional experience. The position’s salary starts at $88,562.
