ESPN.com is reporting that former GW men’s basketball coach John Kuester is expected to be named head coach of the NBA’s Detroit Pistons later today or tomorrow.
Kuester coached the Colonials for five years between 1985 and 1990, and is probably best known for the disastrous 1988-89 season in which GW had the worst season in program history – a record of 1-27. He was 50-91 overall in Foggy Bottom.
Kuester has coached in the NBA for 16 seasons, most recently as an assistant with the Cleveland Cavaliers.
