The GW gymnastics team finished in last place Friday at a three-team competition hosted by the University of Kentucky. The University of Georgia reigned at the Memorial Coliseum winning every event and the meet with a score of 195.500. Kentucky earned second place with a score of 193.675 and GW followed at 190.800.
Junior standout Devin McCalla led the Colonials by finishing in a tie for fourth in the all-around. Her final score was 38.300. Freshman Rachel Mann finished with a team-high vault score of 9.675.
Leading Georgia was all-around winner Kristi Lichey with a 39.375 score. Lichey won both the vault (9.950) and balance beam (9.850) events. Georgia’s Marline Stephens and Cory Fritzinger finished second and third, respectively, in the all-around competition.
The Colonials next competition is Thursday night at the University of Maryland. GW will return to the Smith Center the following Friday to face Atlantic 10 rival Rhode Island.
