Hatchet staff members elected current Editor in Chief Lauren French to a second term as the paper’s leader Thursday night.

French – a junior from Jupiter, Fla. – is the second editor in Hatchet history to serve for two terms.

If you’re interested in how the election works, former Hatchet editor Michael Barnett penned a detailed explanation near the end of his tenure in 2006. The Hatchet has changed some processes since then, like opening voting to all editors, production managers and web staffers, rather than just paid editorial staff.

The decision must still be approved by The Hatchet’s Board of Directors.
