A couple weeks ago, the editorial board admonished Quinnipiac University’s administration for attempting to suppress a student-run online publication, the Quad News, and for threatening to ban the campus chapter of the Society of Professional Journalists.
Under pressure from various newspapers’ editorial pages and blogs – including the New York Times – the president of Quinnipiac has seen the light. The university officially retracted its threat to ban the SPJ and will allow the Quad News interview access to Quinnipiac administrators and coaches.
There’s something to be said for solidarity.
