The Society of Professional Journalists recognized The Hatchet in seven categories last week for their annual collegiate journalism awards.
The Hatchet earned the top spot in the following categories:
Best use of multimedia: Faces of D.C. by the GW Hatchet multimedia staff

The first-place winners in the region – which includes Delaware, Maryland, North Carolina, Virginia and D.C. – will go on to the SPJ’s national Mark of Excellence competition and will be judged among winners from 12 regions.
The Hatchet was recognized as a finalist in other categories, including:
