The Associated Collegiate Press recognized The GW Hatchet as a finalist for best online college newspaper, according to a release from ACP Monday.
The Hatchet is one of 41 two- and four-year student newspapers selected as finalists for an online Pacemaker award. The Hatchet’s 115th volume received the honor.
Judges considered 182 student newspapers representing 38 states and Canada in the competition. Twenty of the 41 finalists will earn a Pacemaker award, according to ACP.
Finalists demonstrated “rich multimedia storytelling” and “deep and diverse coverage,” according to the release.
Winners will be announced at ACP’s convention Oct. 31 through Nov. 3 in the District. Judges will provide insight on their decision for the Pacemaker finalists and winners after the convention, the release states.
