Two op-eds by University employees appeared in the Hatchet opinions section today. The two pieces appeared side-by-side under the title of “Visions for a better GW.”
One, written by University President Stephen Joel Trachtenberg, was solicited by me. The other, by Economics Department Chair Donald Parsons, was submitted independently, and was not intended as an opposing viewpoint to Trachtenberg’s piece. Together, however, the pieces shed some light on the difficulties facing GW in short and long-term.
While the opinions page is normally filled with student opinions on everything from Middle East policy to … well, Middle East policy, it’s good to see that real policy-makers at the University are proactively thinking about and trying to address issues of academic quality and long-term planning.
Administrators, faculty and staff: Keep the opinions coming.
