The GW women’s lacrosse team regained its winning ways with victories on Friday and Sunday. The Colonials (11-3, 4-1 Atlantic 10) beat A-10 rival St. Joseph’s on Friday 17-5 and knocked off Colgate 12-8 on Sunday.
Sophomore Laura Hostetler became GW’s all-time leading scorer after notching two goals and two assists. Hostetler’s 126 career points topped Heidi Meyer’s 124.
Junior Anne Howley scored four goals to tie her career high. Senior Meghan McDonough had her second straight three-point performance against the Red Raiders (10-5). Sophomore Emily Fortunato had two saves in goal in the first half.
In Friday’s game against St. Joseph’s, sophomore Laura Hostetler tied her own record for points in a game with 10. Senior Jenny Heisler notched a hat trick against St. Joseph’s (4-5, 1-2 A-10) while classmate McDonough scored three goals.
Seniors Jamie Lee and Heisler both scored on passes by Hostetler to give the Colonials a 10-2 lead. The Colonials dominated offensively, outscoring the Hawks 7-2 for the remainder of the game. Freshman Caitlin Garman registered six saves in goal for GW.
The Colonials face St. Mary’s (Calif.) on Friday in their last home game of the year. Senior Day festivities will begin at 4 p.m.
