The Associated Collegiate Press has selected The GW Hatchet as a finalist for best college newspaper.
The Hatchet is one of 43 collegiate student newspapers named as finalists in its annual Pacemaker competition, according to a release from ACP Wednesday. The work considered for the award is from The Hatchet’s 113th volume.
Two teams of three judges selected the finalists from 150 student newspapers that entered the competition, according to ACP’s release. From the group of finalists, 23 will win the Pacemaker award.
Judges considered excellence in key areas including coverage, editing, design and photography. “The winning newspapers took risks and served as a strong voice for its student audience,” according to the release.
Winners will be announced at ACP’s national convention Oct. 25 through 29 in Dallas.
