Men’s water polo’s Deamer again named Rookie of the Week

This post was written by Hatchet reporter Rob Bartnichak.

Men’s water polo freshman Pierce Deamer was named CWPA Southern Division Rookie of the Week for the second time this season, the league announced Friday.

Deamer is now the first Colonial to earn multiple Rookie of the Week honors since teammate Bogdan Petkovic’s freshman campaign in 2012.

Deamer scored his fifth hat trick of the season last Saturday in a 15-13 loss to Johns Hopkins. The South Pasadena, Calif. native also had two steals and drew a team-high three ejections.

Deamer is fourth on the team with 39 points, 15 steals and eight field blocks. His 29 goals on the season rank fourth on the team, and his 34 ejections drawn are a team high.

The Colonials return to the pool Wednesday in a rematch against Johns Hopkins in Baltimore.
