The Associated Collegiate Press handed The Hatchet a first place award Saturday for best multimedia sports story of the year.

Pieces were judged on innovation, reporting and technical quality. The Hatchet’s Gabriella Demczuk took the top award for her coverage of the Baltimore Grand Prix.

She also picked up a third place honor from the Society of Professional Journalists for the same video in the spring.

The Hatchet was also named a finalist for the Pacemaker award, considered the Pulitzer Prize of collegiate journalism, in best four-year non-daily newspaper category.
