As the club cricket team heads to the 2012 American College Cricket Spring Break Championships, those back in Foggy Bottom will be able to follow along on TV Asia.
Student Association director of student-athletes Hugo Scheckter said he and Senior Associate Vice President and Dean of Students Peter Konwerski worked together to broker a deal that will broadcast TV Asia for free into every University dorm room over the next month. It’s the first time a club sport has been on a national TV network, Scheckter said.
All of the competing teams were randomly selected into four different groups. GW will compete in Group C, which also includes the University of Florida, Rutgers University, Cleveland State University, Montgomery College, College of Wooster and Florida Atlantic University. American College Cricket’s website says each team will play at least “three or four” matches, plus the playoffs and finals should a team qualify.
The telecast will start Saturday, March 17, at 7 p.m.
