Women’s basketball loses at Villanova

The women’s basketball team’s losing streak reached six games tonight as the Colonials fell 55-44 at Villanova in the last nonconference game of their schedule.

GW (3-14, 0-4 Atlantic 10) was once again able to play just seven players, though it nonetheless trailed the Wildcats by just one at halftime and out-rebounded the hosts by a 10-board margin. It was a difference in shooting and turnovers, however, that did the Colonials in, as they shot just 24 percent from the field after halftime and were out-scored 18-6 by the Wildcats in the points-off-turnovers department.

Sophomore Tiana Myers scored a team-high 13 points and grabbed four rebounds, while redshirt freshman Brooke Wilson joined her in double-figure scoring 10 points and also had six rebounds. Sophomore Kay-Kay Allums led GW with nine rebounds and freshman Megan Nipe recorded a team-best four assists.

The Colonials will resume A-10 play Sunday when they host La Salle at the Smith Center. Opening tip is scheduled for 1 p.m.
