Baseball gets two of three in Richmond, contends for championship bid
The GW baseball team won the first and third games of a three-game set against Richmond at Pitt Field in Richmond, Va.
The Colonials took the game Sunday 4-3 on a seventh-inning explosion. Pat Lehman picked up the win for GW, his second of the season. Andrew Abokhair, the catcher, had two hits for the Colonials, while Michael Parker, Tom Shanley, Doug Eizen, Bryan Hwang and Chris Marsciano had a hit apiece in the win.
In the first game, Charlie Kruer had four RBI, including the game-winner, to give GW the come-from-behind victory. Derrik Lutz gave up four runs in three innings before settling down and giving GW the win. The Colonials have won two of their last eight games and now have a record of 20-31 and 11-11 in Atlantic 10 play. GW is in the mix to receive a bid to the A-10 championship, which will be hosted by Fordham at Jack Coffey Field in Bronx, N.Y., starting May 24. The Colonials are battling for the sixth spot, with Fordham, Duquesne and Richmond.
