Hip-hop has left an indelible mark on our culture, and “Elements of Style: The Hip Hop and Urban Art Exhibition” examines its political and economic contributions to society. This exhibit rotates works from 14 artists from Chicago, Philly, New York and the District in an exhibition space at 3307 M St. in Georgetown.

The East Coast Jazz Festival begins Thursday at the Rockville Doubletree, and in its 15th year, the focus is on the music of young jazz artists. Many of the events are free for enthusiasts and performers, but some require tickets – call 301-933-1822 for more information.

It’s not quite “Brokeback Mountain,” but Mamet’s play “Boston Marriage” addresses a pair with a similarly taboo love affair: two lesbians in the Victorian era. You’ll wish you knew how to quit the Source Theatre Company, which can be reached for more information at 202-319-7227.
