Rhode Island 45, No. 14/15 GW 39

Rhode Island erased a 23-11 GW lead in five minutes and used a Karl Hobbs technical foul combined with a pair of Dawan Robinson free throws to take a 45-39 halftime lead.

Junior Danilo (J.R.) Pinnock had 12 points in the first half while senior Pops Mensah-Bonsu, who had a career high 29 Wednesday against Duquesne, put in eight points. Rhode Island’s zone stifled GW and slowed down their half court game. GW shot 40.7 from the floor and committed 11 turnovers.

For the Rams, Dawan Robinson got 13 points while Jamaal Wise, a Maryland native, scored 10. Rhode Island managed 51.4 percent shooting and only gave the ball up seven times.
