After only eight minutes into the GW men’s basketball team’s exhibition against Augusta State on Saturday, senior Pops Mensah-Bonsu hobbled out of the game with an ankle injury.
Director of Athletics Jack Kvancz said the 6-foot-9 forward was diagnosed with a seemingly harmless sprained ankle and will be out seven to 10 days. Mensah-Bonsu will go through therapy and will still need to be cleared by team doctors before he is able to practice and play. Kvancz was unsure if Mensah-Bonsu will be available for the regular season opener against Kennesaw State on Nov. 23. GW head men’s basketball coach Karl Hobbs was unavailable for comment Wednesday.
