Smoke-out

I was shocked to find out that the Provisions Market will no longer accept GW meal-plan points to buy cigarettes. As one of the many smokers at GW, I find this decision really upsetting.

Yes, I realize smoking is bad for me and that some find it an offensive and unattractive habit. I am not advocating smoking, nor am I the poster child for Philip Morris. However, I enjoy smoking, and like many other bad habits, I feel that I have a right to do this.

Maybe I am the only one, but if GW was going to make a really (in my opinion) stupid and petty decision, they could have told me early enough to change my meal plan. If GW does not want me purchasing cigarettes with a meal plan, the least it could do is give me back my $1,200 so that I can go buy cigarettes from someone else.

Or, if GW is going to begin to act like my parents, maybe Provisions should stop selling condoms. I know my parents wouldn’t approve of the idea that I can buy condoms with my meal plan. Short of that, GW needs to realize that the students that attend school here are mature, responsible ADULTS. We are big boys and girls – we can make our own decisions.
