The GW Dance Company performs its Fall Dance Concert this weekend in the Dorothy Betts Marvin Theatre. The concert, directed by dance Professor Joseph Mills, contains works choreographed by Mills and GW seniors.
An experienced dancer, Mills’ list of credentials is impressive. Before he began touring with MOMIX Dance Theatre in 1987, Mills was a member of the Mid-America Dance Company in St. Louis. In the early 1990s, he was a solo performer for the Erick Hawkins Dance Company. Recently, he appeared in the Smithsonian Institute’s production “Seeing Jazz Move.”
In the Fall Dance Concert, a new Mills work will debut. The piece features the use of ball handling as a means of communication for the dancers.
The Fall Dance Concert also includes pieces choreographed by GW seniors Crystal Akens, Michelle Higgins, Alex Kalkines, Carrie Lewis and Sarah Ries.
