A woman was arrested Thursday afternoon after students in Schenley Hall reported that she had entered rooms in the residence hall and had allegedly stolen property, a University official said Thursday.
University spokeswoman Michelle Sherrard confirmed that a woman who had been observed in Schenley Hall was arrested and is “suspected of being in possession of stolen property.”
Sherrard said the Metropolitan Police Department is currently investigating the situation. An incident report from MPD was not approved as of 7 p.m.
Sophomore Tatiana Reyes said the woman entered her room on the fifth floor of Schenley Hall sometime after 12 p.m., made eye contact with Reyes and left. Reyes said she and another student followed the woman out of Schenley Hall and called University Police as she fled the building.
“My friend and I chased her, and I was running down the street,” Reyes said. “UPD stopped her at the corner of Marvin and they took her bag out. She had someone’s credit card, three wallets, a purse and four pairs of pants.”
In August, several students reported items missing from their Ivory Tower residence hall rooms and at the time, one woman was arrested in the building after she entered a room and allegedly stole a wallet.
