GW senior shortstop Tom Zebroki broke the program record for all-time hits on Saturday, going 4-for-5 to bring his career total to 292. The previous record, held by former Colonial Mike Bassett, was 290. Zebroksi has been one of the top hitters in the Atlantic 10 this season, batting .423 with 93 hits, 50 RBI and 13 home runs this season, all of which are either team highs or tied for team highs. It is the second straight week that Zebroski has managed to etch his name into the GW record books after the Colonials’ shortstop broke the program record for career runs scored last weekend against Temple.
Despite Zebroski’s big day at the plate, the Colonials fell for the second consecutive day to Fordham, dropping game two of the three-game series, 12-8. GW will wrap up the weekend set with the Rams Sunday at 2 p.m. in what will be the team’s final home game of the year. Zebroski still has plenty of time to pad his new records, however. After Sunday’s game, the Colonials still have a three-game set scheduled for next weekend on the road at Rhode Island, followed by the A-10 Tournament in Camden, N.J. a week later.
