Three cheetahs to go on display at the National Zoo

The three male cheetahs will go on exhibit this weekend.

Just in time for a pre-finals field trip, three male cheetahs – Draco, Granger and Zabini  – will go on exhibit at the Smithsonian’s National Zoo.

The 5-year-old brothers have been living at the Zoo’s Smithsonian Conservation Biology Institute’s Cheetah Science Facility in Virginia since 2009 but will move back to their public habitat this weekend. The cheetahs lived at the Zoo before going to Virginia.

The brothers will join Tumai, a 10-year-old female cheetah.

For those of you wondering about the cheetahs’ names, yes, they are named after characters in the “Harry Potter” series.

The National Zoo features a “Cheetah Cam” for D.C.-ers who want to get a sneak-peek before heading to Woodley Park. The cam wouldn’t work for me but maybe you’ll have better luck.
