Profile on Style is a weekly post that explores the motivations behind GW’s fashion trends. We’ll show you the most interesting aspects of GW style, and then try to make some sense of it all. Keep your eyes open for a reporter and photographer walking around because you might become the latest trendsetter…or trend-killer.

Rainy, cold fall days can make for a drab day fashion-wise. Instead of blending in with the gray and gloomy, why not add a burst of color and happiness to an otherwise dull day? Students throughout campus were found in bold and bright hues that lightened up the day while still be comfortable and weatherproof.
For Vivian Young, a freshman studying Chinese and East Asian studies, wearing bold and bright colors makes her stand out. She tends to stay away from brand names but chooses clothing based on the hue.
For today, Young opted for a patterned pink t-shirt from Hong Kong, gray skinny jeans, Keds, and a set of colorful headphones to complete the outfit.
Sean McKinley, a freshman, said his neon sweatshirt was simply, “the first thing that he put on this morning.” Yet, McKinley’s sweatshirt truly brightens up the grayness of campus. McKinley wears skinny jeans and Vans to create a “casual, but not sloppy casual style.”
The next time it rains, put on a bright pair of wellies, a neon sweatshirt, or even an extra bright accessory to make the gloomy day a little bit lighter.
