What we’re listening to: Hatchet Arts music picks

Hatchet Reporter Patrick Rochelle shares his latest musical obsessions.

Kid Cudi: “Up Up & Away”

Over the past week, I haven’t been able to get this song’s chorus out of my head. I’ll be walking down the street and suddenly start singing, “Because they gonna judge me anyway, so whateva.” If you happen to notice, just ignore me. I’m probably in my own little world.

The Black Keys: “Tighten Up”

The Key’s newest album, “Brothers”, isn’t supposed to drop until today, but that hasn’t stopped it from leaking on the Internet. If the entire album is anything like this song, it will be an explosive addition to an already catchy anthology of tracks.

B.o.B. Bobby Ray: “Airplanes pt. 2 ft. Eminem & Hayley Wiliams”

After receiving mixed reviews for his most recent LP “Relapse” and seemingly forgettable appearance on Lil Wayne’s rap and rock album released earlier this year, Eminem left many questioning what the future had in store for his career. But the real Slim Shady’s building aggression throughout his verse brings this song full circle, adding a sense of completion and wholeness by the end, proof that the rapper still has more to say and even more to add to a rapidly transforming industry.
