Hearing on Metro Red Line crash coming soon
The National Transportation Safety Board will hold a hearing on June’s deadly collision of two Metrorail trains this month. The hearing will begin Feb. 23 and last three days with witnesses being called. Nine people were killed in the June 22 accident.
Need $2,000?
Well, if you do, you may be interested to hear that this week the D.C. Water and Sewer Authority announced a contest for the public to help rebrand WASA. The contest is co-sponsored by WVSA Arts and the winner receives $2,000. Entries are due by Feb. 26. More details on the contest are available here.
Same-sex marriage survives again
DCist reported Thursday on the refusal of the D.C. Board of Election and Ethics to allow a referendum that would put the issue of gay marriage up to a vote. Petitions have come from critics who want to stop the implementation of the Civil Marriage Equality Act, which was passed in the District last year. This is the third time the Board has refused to put the issue on a ballot.
Snowball fights
It’s going down tomorrow. At 2 p.m., take your pick of Dupont Circle, or 23rd Street on campus. At 4 p.m. you’ll have another opportunity to throw down at University Yard. Don’t bring guns though–we know what happened last time.
