Eastern Market, D.C.’s oldest fresh food market, will reopen June 26 in the newly renovated South Hall. A fire destroyed the building in April 2007; since then, vendors have been selling food, flowers and other items in temporary tents across the street.
The market is only a block away from the Eastern Market Metro station, so it’s a good place to spend a few hours on a nice summer day. The food merchants are open Tuesday-Sunday; there’s also a flea market on Sundays.
