Led by 675 points from Tajama Abraham, the Colonials compiled a 28-6 mark and went farther in the NCAA Tournament than any GW basketball team ever.
After a 16-0 A-10 season, GW lost the A-10 Tournament title game to St. Joseph’s but entered the NCAAs as a five seed. At the Smith Center, GW routed Northwestern University and Tulane University to advance to the Sweet 16.
There, GW faced the top-seeded Tar Heels from the University of North Carolina. UNC led 46-45 with just under five minutes to play, but they never scored again as GW finished with a 10-0 run to secure the Elite Eight bid.
With the Final Four on the line, GW could not get past the University of Notre Dame, losing 62-52.
