GW is seeking applications for a broker to sell the Hall on Virginia Avenue, the University announced Monday.
The former graduate student residence hall closed in spring 2014 for a $35 million facelift that was expected to be completed by early 2016. Officials had hoped to make the space a hub for graduate students, and to fill up to half of the building with faculty residents.
“Since HOVA closed for renovation, we have received interest from potential buyers and university leadership believed it was prudent to fully consider all available options,” Alicia Knight, senior associate vice president for operations, said in the release.
The University hopes to have selected the broker by the end of the calendar year and have the property listed for sale by the beginning of 2016. The price and the timing of the list will be determined after consulting with the broker, according to the release.

The Hatchet incorrectly reported in a headline that GW will sell the Hall on Virginia Avenue. It is considering selling the hall. We regret this error.
