Two recent alumni have been selected for a new two-year fellowship.
Peter Kamocsai and Jay Yang, who both graduated from GW last spring, have been tapped for the first GW Fellows Program at the Partnership for Public Service, according to a University release last week. Trustee George Wellde, who donated $1 million to the Center for Career Services last spring, will endow the program.
The Partnership for Public Service is a nonprofit organization that strengthens civil service in the federal government. Max Stier, president and CEO of the Partnership for Public Service, said in the release that the organization wants to motivate a new younger generation to serve their community.
Komocsai currently works as a researcher, studying how innovation in the federal government saves money. Yang is working with college students to support federal recruitment.
“I am definitely optimistic because the government is changing, and federal employees are changing the way they think about their work,” Yang said in the release. “There are a lot of jobs out there just waiting for young people.”
It is a two-year professional fellowship, an investment Wellde said he chose to make in two accomplished alumni.
“Civic engagement is a cornerstone of the mission of both organizations, and our hope is that students will be inspired to contribute their energy and talent in the public sphere,” Wellde said in the release.
