High school students from New York and North Carolina have another reason to to apply to GW this fall.
GW will partner with Say Yes to Education to provide full-tuition scholarships to students in three communities in New York and North Carolina. The partnership is GW’s latest step in its affordability efforts.
Students in the designated communities with a family income of at or below $75,000 are eligible for the program, according to the release. About 100 other private colleges and universities have similar partnerships.
Senior Associate Provost For Enrollment Management Laurie Koehler said in the release she was excited to join Say Yes to Education “in their efforts to make higher education more accessible to outstanding students regardless of family income.”
Local businesses in Syracuse, N.Y. and Buffalo, N.Y. and Guilford County, N.C. also raise money to provide scholarships to high schoolers in the area. More than 5,000 students have attended college since the community-wide programs started in 2008, according to the release.
