The Office of Safety and Security released two videos Wednesday to help students and faculty avoid and prevent violence on campus.
The videos break down how to identify the warning signs of violent behavior like harassment and bullying, according to a release. They also demonstrate what to do if violence occurs on campus, such as an active shooter situation.
The roughly 30-minute presentations, one geared toward students and the other for faculty and staff, detail the warning signs to look for in someone who may be prone to violence. They also provide contact information for the University Counseling Center and the CARE network, which allows community members to anonymously report the names of students who appear to be struggling emotionally.
Senior Associate Vice President for Safety and Security Darrell Darnell said in the release that the videos would help raise awareness and prevent dangerous situations.
“Unfortunately, in today’s society, we’re not going to be able to eradicate workplace violence. What we can do is educate people to signs of behavior that may lead to it,” Darnell said.
The videos are available on the SkillPort website.
