On a New England swing over the weekend, the GW men’s soccer team lost to two good Atlantic 10 teams, falling to 2-8-1 (1-4 A-10). GW scored nine goals in its first three matches this season but has notched only five in its eight matches since.

Rhode Island (9-2-1, 5-0 A-10) remained undefeated in the A-10 with the shutout win over GW.
URI’s Steven DeMoura scored in the 26th minute and assisted on a goal in the 75th to secure the win.
The Rams attempted 17 shots, while GW’s offense managed just two.

Friday, Oct. 8
GW took a 1-1 tie into the second half behind a goal by senior Evan Nierman in the 28th minute. Sophomores Ted Tucker and Michael Goldman had the assists on Goldman’s seventh goal of the season. UMass (8-4, 3-1 A-10) answered with goals in the 32nd, 73rd and 88th minutes to beat GW.
The Minutemen outshot GW 17-8.
