The latest official in a string of departing executives announced Wednesday his exit from outgoing D.C. Mayor Vincent Gray’s administration.
Victor Hoskins, deputy mayor for planning and development, will leave his post to start a new position on June 16 in Prince George’s County, the Washington City Paper reported. Hoskins is the sixth senior official in Gray’s administration to leave office since the mayor’s defeat in the April 1 Democratic primary.
Hoskins will assume the role of deputy chief administrative officer for economic development and public infrastructure, working under the county’s acting chief administrative officer Nick Majett, who left his post as director of D.C.’s consumer regulatory agency last month.
In a statement, Gray thanked Hoskins for his more than three years working for the District, which he said resulted in job growth, progress in major development projects and expansion of the city’s technology industry.
“Our loss is Prince George’s County’s gain, as Victor has done an extraordinary job in moving the District’s economy forward by leaps and bounds,” Gray said in the statement.
Four other cabinet-level officials have announced their departure since Gray’s primary loss. In April, D.C. Department of Transportation director Terry Bellamy and chief engineer Nick Nicholson, Department of Human Services director David Burns and inspector general Charles Willoughby all announced their exits.
