City police are investigating a report of a potential shooting Thursday evening, but an officer said the incident was unconfirmed and no injuries had been reported.
Metropolitan Police Department received a call around 7 p.m. about a shooting near 20th and F streets, but a second call reported that “everyone was fine,” spokesman Paul Metcalf said.
NBC Washington reported around 7 p.m. that a man was found breathing and then brought to a local hospital.
The news station later tweeted a correction rescinding its report. NBC Washington did not immediately return request for comment on how the misreporting occurred.
No police cars or emergency officials were seen on the block shortly about a half hour after the call.
CORRECTION: Police say there was no victim found near GW campus.
