GW professors to speak at literary conference

Two GW English professors will lead a variety of fiction workshops at the F. Scott Fitzgerald Literary Conference in Rockville, Md.

Maxine Clair and Patricia Browning Griffith will lead the workshops at Montgomery College, according to a press release from the F. Scott Fitzgerald Library Conference.

Clair’s workshop will focus on fiction writing. Her works include collections of poems and short stories. Clair has received the Guggenheim Fellowship and other awards. Griffith, a novel writer, serves on the board of the Washington Area Writers’ Center.

E. L. Doctorow, who has had his work published in 30 languages, will receive the fourth annual F. Scott Fitzgerald Literary Award during the conference. Jim Lehrer, the NewsHour with Jim Lehrer, and his wife Kate also will participate in the conference. The conference celebrates the 103rd birthday of F. Scott Fitzgerald.
