Fifty years after he covered the assassination of John F. Kennedy, journalist and former news anchor Dan Rather will look back at how that day impacted the nation with news analyst Marvin Kalb.
Rather, who helped break the story in Dallas in 1963, will appear on The Kalb Report on the anniversary of the 35th president’s death Nov. 22.
The 82-year-old served as the news anchor for the CBS Evening News for 24 years, but he left the network after he came under fire for a critical report on 60 Minutes about former President George W. Bush’s service in the National Guard. He is now the managing editor of the documentary series “Dan Rather Reports.”
Tickets to The Kalb Report, which is produced in part by GW’s School of Media and Public Affairs, are free to the public. The event begins at the National Press Club on 14th and F streets at 8 p.m., with seats available on a first-come, first-served basis. Doors open at 7 p.m.
