Metropolitan Police Department officers arrested a student last week for allegedly choking another student in front of the Lerner Health and Wellness Center.
The student reported he was walking past the gym on Sept. 11 at 10:15 p.m. when the other student approached him from behind, turned him around and started to choke him. He told officers he felt dizzy after the incident and had minor swelling, bruising and redness around his neck, according to MPD documents.
The student reported the attack to the University Police Department, which located the suspect, UPD Chief Kevin Hay said. Officers arrested the student for assault with significant bodily injury, and the alleged victim was brought to GW Hospital.
