GW students joined education activists Friday to protest the proposed closure of 15 public schools.
Members of the GW Roosevelt Institute joined protestors from Empower DC in front of U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia to show their support for keeping the public schools open.
Empower DC file an injunction to block the school closure plan, citing the closings as unconstitutional and discriminatory. City officials have said it’s no longer worth funding the under-enrolled schools, but activists counter that the closures hurt poor and minority students.
